Round I presentation topics and ranked-preference form
Round I topic packets are available; submit five ranked preferences by Sunday, August 30, at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
The Round I presentation topics are now available. Round I is intended as a scaffolded first presentation: no topic requires reading an original research paper. Each packet fixes the mathematical scope, states the principal theorem, identifies the required proof content, suggests examples and exercises, and gives a curated reading route.
Start with the quick-browse booklet, which contains the topic catalogue and the first-page overview of all ten packets. Then consult the complete packet set for the topics most likely to appear among your top choices. Individual packets will also be available from the Course notes page.
Submit the Round I ranked-preference form by .
The form asks you to:
- rank five distinct topics;
- identify at most one topic you strongly prefer not to receive;
- report relevant mathematical background and areas of interest;
- identify genuine scheduling conflicts among the anticipated Round I dates; and
- indicate your current presentation confidence and one form of instructor support that would be especially useful.
Assignments are not first-come-first-served. I will balance preferences, preparation, presentation order, and mathematical coverage. You may edit your response until the deadline using the edit-response link supplied after submission. Preferences sent by email will not count as a form submission.
The anticipated Round I presentation dates are September 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, and 28. List only genuine conflicts. If a technical problem prevents you from accessing or submitting the form, email me before the deadline and begin the subject line with [21-317].
